Beach Weekend

Located on the oceanside of the barrier island Bogue Banks, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Atlantic Beach Oceanfront sits on the southside of North Carolina Highway 58 or West Fort Macon Road, just before entering the Town of Pine Knoll Shores. The hotel lies directly adjacent to the Atlantic shoreline, boasts easy access to wide, sandy beaches of ocean saltwater, and a rather long wooden pier abuts up to the outdoor pool. During our stay, hotel occupation was low, and the building was relatively quiet, which can be attributed to the beginning of the school year. As a signature of the DoubleTree brand, warmed chocolate chip cookies are available at the lobby desk. This DoubleTree Hotel was well accommodating with an indoor bar/restaurant called Prime 1079 Steakhouse which claims to be an “American Steakhouse with southern flair” and serves breakfast and dinner. There are well maintained outdoor and indoor pools. An outdoor kitchen is also available poolside. As a highlight, the building complex includes a conference center which, in all honesty, presents an excellent location to hold large business meetings. The hotel offers plenty of free parking on the grounds.
My bride and I spent a celebratory weekend at the DoubleTree Oceanfront, relaxing and taking in the Atlantic Beach area … which, because of local history and culture, is highly recommended. Our small, 4th-floor balcony opened to the southeast, and we enjoyed a pleasing view of the Atlantic Ocean shoreline. If the balcony door was left open, a cool sea breeze conveniently came into the room. Although we did not eat breakfast at the hotel, we did regularly help ourselves to the complimentary coffee bar every morning. Overall, the hotel spaces were airy and comfortable, but did not move me as anything extraordinary. Sure, we appreciated the relaxing environment, but there are certainly more distinctive guesthouses along North Carolina’s coastline.
Atlantic Beach is the iconic ocean coastline tourist-draw of eastern North Carolina. As a point of reference, it is very reminiscent of every Floridian beach town. The local area is the typical shoreline community, rife with short-term vacation rentals, seafood restaurants, kitschy souvenir shops, and craft breweries. Historical Fort Macon is nearby, a few miles east of the DoubleTree. Similarly, the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is a few miles in the opposite or westerly direction. For convenient eats and drinks, The Wheelhouse Taproom is located across the street (Highway 58/W. Fort Macon Road) and is about a two-minute walk from the DoubleTree front door.

Goodie bag for my dog and a relaxing stay for work

Very comfortable rooms. Staff at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. They also recognized me as a diamond member along with recognizing my dog with a little goodie bag. It’s the little things that matter and it was a very thoughtful touch to a nice stay on the beach.

The bath showed signs of aging. Shower was weak - water not hot enough. Noisy HVAC - broken ice maker. $100 fee for pet is excessive. Good ocean view - nice beach access.

Excellent service. They contacted me as soon as we got settled to make sure all was good with the room and if we needed anything...blankets, towels etc to let them know. When I needed something, they were very kind and speedy with request. Room was very clean and comfortable for most part. Beds were bit soft for me but not hotels fault. I specifically got the queen suite because of the jetted tub. When I got tub ready and started jetts... "Stuff" came out of jets. Very unpleasant. They did send housekeeping next afternoon to do a deep cleaning but ... That being said, the staff is nice, the hotel is very pet friendly, and I would stay there again.

Our stay was perfect. From the ease of check-in to the comfort of the room everything was exactly like it was supposed to be.
