Convenient Manhattan location; will stay again
Smooth, speedy check-in. Surprisingly fantastic room, and very convenient location. Easy walk to Madison Square Garden to see a concert, easy walk to K-Town, easy walk to Union Square. Strategically good spot to get downtown or uptown quickly by ride-share or cab. Rooms are spacious. Elevators (4) are large and fast.

Hot Blooded Check it and See, You’re Stay Will Feel Like You Have A Temperature of 103
This is a complicated review. The staff are outstanding. From the front desk to housekeeping to the bellmen and managers. Nearly white glove treatment. Not Ritz Carlton but above Marriott’s average hotel. There’s a constant availability of bottled water in the lobby which is a nice touch. Check in and out was easy breezy. They don’t have traditional room service but they do have a service called Alfred that lets you order from your mobile phone via QR code with Levian, NYC Diner, and Carne.
But at the end of the day, the room is important. And throughout my stay the A/C didn’t work. I don’t think I slept for 2 consecutive hours any of my 5 day stay. Like a lot of hotels in Marriott they opt for a razor thin top sheet and a down comforter. I asked for maintenance 3 of the days but I know they only came twice to try and fail) to fix the issue. Every night and next morning after showering it was like a hot box. I literally was sweating riding down the elevator. Ironically, the hallways and common areas were cool and comfortable. I also took note that there weren’t any ice machines on the floor and instead guests have to go down to the sub street level to get ice.
It would be impossible to stay here past April in the real warm NY months.

Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed (and you will do a lot worse just around the corner).
A wise place to stay because:
Staff is attentive, friendly
Price is fair for NY City
Hotel is very convenient to public transportation, both buses and multiple subways
Hotel is in a safe location
Restaurant staff is friendly, food is good

Very reasonable, clean and comfortable!! What more could you want?!!!!
After a lot of research and having been to NYC before, we knew we didn't want to be on or around Times Square so we settle on Chelsea and it was the right decision. The hotel is not massive and neither are the bedrooms, but it was warm and clean with very comfortable beds (pillows were like clouds) and a great shower. Personally I don't see the point in spending a fortune on a room you will hardly be in and the Renaissance was very reasonable in that respect. The house keeping staff always did a tremendous job on the rooms every day so thank you for that. The reception staff were very friendly and even though we had to pay a €30 tax per night on the room, we could claim that back at the bar or restaurant. I cannot comment on the gym but one of our group did go each of the morning we were there and said it was ok but that 2 of the treadmills were broken. There was also a night club in this hotel (although you would never know it), which seem popular (we didn't go to it though as we were only fit for the bed after a long day exploring NY).
Over all, I would recommend staying here for a city break.
Your are not in the centre of everything but you are only a short distance away. An UBER to Times Square is around $20 (although we go one for $13 so it depends on the time).
